The Panamera Sport Turismo’s 12.3-inch infotainment screen may look pretty, but its attractive wrapper hides a messy interface with overcomplicated menus, ergonomic challenges, and functional limitations, including limited communication with the two 7.0-inch screens that flank the gauge cluster’s analog tachometer.

Infotainment Features

The Panamera Sport Turismo’s infotainment system comes well equipped out of the box and includes niceties such as a navigation system, in-car Wi-Fi, and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Strangely, Android Auto and wireless charging are unavailable throughout the Panamera Sport Turismo lineup.

While the touchscreen’s responses are average for the class, accomplishing basic tasks in the Panamera can be a lengthy affair due to the infotainment system’s myriad menus. A handful of touch-capacitive buttons below the screen serve as shortcuts to many menus. Unfortunately, the switches’ small print and low mounting point make them difficult to find on the fly.

Test Results: Infotainment Response Time

By filming the infotainment screen while switching between various menus and then analyzing the high-speed video frame by frame, we are able to accurately measure the system’s response time. We rate infotainment response, or latency, on the following scale:

We measure the electrical current that each USB port provides. All USB ports found in a vehicle provide 5.0 volts, per the USB standard. Current, measured in amps, varies and dictates the charge times of devices. The higher the amps, the quicker a device’s charge time. Not all USB devices are created equal. Most modern smartphones can charge at 2.0 amps, while slow or stagnant charging can result from using current at 1.0 amp or lower when the device is in use.
